The very first thing I learned when putting together Episode 001 of The Cover Up was exactly how much I hate the sound of my voice. it used to be deeper before I damaged my vocal chords in my early twenties. Argh. It has taken a lot, and I do mean a LOT of practice this week to try and force my voice lower. I also discovered that the recommended EQ and compression settings that work well for others don’t necessarily work well for me.
Anyhow, after winding up over two months behind schedule, I pushed the first episode out the door today. You can’t make everything perfect — sometimes you just have to launch the boat and finish the rest of the repairs at sea. Which is what I’ve been up to. Here’s the new intro jingle for Episode 002, and you’ll immediately notice I’m handling my voice better, remembering to speak slower, and I’ve found some voice settings that are more effective for me in Adobe Audition.
Life is a work in progress. The good news is that I’m already half done Episode 002 and it’s going to be kickass.
